Thinking About Packing

December 30, 2010

I was inspired by this post in a WDW CP blog that I read, where the author mathematically figured out approximately how many free, wear whatever she wanted to wear days she had. I followed her same formula, and came up with 34 entire days to wear what I please. Although, that’s not counting time before and/or after work where I don’t have to be in costume.

At least it gave me a kind of estimate as to how much clothing I actually need to pack.

I’m also limiting myself to one suitcase (the largest one, of course! haha) for my clothes. What doesn’t fit, doesn’t go. I hope that’ll work out well for me.

In my second-largest suitcase will be my shoes (two pairs of sneakers, three pairs of dress shoes, two pairs of flip flops, and one pair of work shoes [that can be returned if my location changes between now and check-in]) and my assorted bathroom things.

My carry-on will contain the breakable items (photo frames and a couple dishes), with my linens (bedding and towels) acting as packing material, of sorts. Of course the breakables will be wrapped in newspaper and placed in a couple boxes, but my hope is that the towels will pad them from being shaken all around the suitcase.

And then my “personal item” (read: tote bag) will hold my electronics (laptop, phone, iPod, video camera, with chargers), as well as my small purse.

The random things that I haven’t really outlined (water bottle, calendar, reusable bags, combination lock.. stuff like that) will just be in whatever suitcase they it. I’m not too concerned about that.

Tonight I started making a master packing list. I plan on assigning a color to each bag when I’m packing, and highlighting each item on my list in the appropriate color. That way, when I’m in Orlando a couple days before check-in, if I need something out of one of my bags, I’ll know where it should be. Of course, I might not even need to use that little feature of my obsessive-compulsive packing, but if I do need to find something, it should help.

I’m not going to do any packing-related things for a couple days, though. I need to let my lists and plans and things sit for a while.

Disney 30 Day Challenge: Day Three

December 30, 2010

Day Three:  Your Favorite Heroine

My favorite heroine is probably Tiana from Princess and the Frog. She’s super strong-willed, she knows what she wants, and she makes some killer beignets, haha :]

In other news, I’m in the single digits!! Only NINE days until I leave!! :]]]]]]]]]

Disney 30 Day Challenge: Day Two

Day Two:  Your Favorite Princess

Well crap. I posted my -real- favorite princess yesterday… I kind of didn’t want to use the same answer twice. So I’ll post a favorite [sort of] princess.

Megara from Hercules! She’s pretty BA, haha. She can even tie her own sandals and everything :]]

Disney 30 Day Challenge: Day One

December 28, 2010

Today I’m starting the Disney 30 Day Challenge!!! -applause- At least this will prompt me to post once daily, at least until I leave. So it might end up being the Disney 11-ish Day Challenge, haha. At any rate, here’s Day 1 :]

Day One: Your Favorite Character

There are boatloads of characters to choose from. Seriously. One of favorite characters, if not my most favorite character, is Cinderella. Her movie is pretty much the classic fairy tale, and she gets her happily ever after. What more does anybody want? haha

Thirteen days until I leave!

December 26, 2010

I leave Omaha in thirteen days. Holy freakin’ cow.

Christmas was pretty spectacular :] I received a lot of gifts that will be useful for my Disney adventure! I got a luggage set, a new pair of sneakers (hot pink Nikes!), a photo album book frame thing filled with family pictures, an umbrella that folds up teeny, a Toy Story 3 calendar, my sister gave me Hickory Farms beef sticks and mustard (because they don’t need to be refrigerated until they’re opened, so I can throw them in my suitcase).

Some of my other favorite gifts (which will undoubtedly be taken to Florida as well) include my Dooney wristlet, the greatest Harry Potter hoodie ever (from Joey!), and a couple Old Navy fleece pullovers.

My aunts and uncles sent gift cards :]] I’m preeeetty sure I’m going to spend them this week… On a Flip video camera! I think it would be a pretty easy way to more or less document my time in Florida this spring. Not necessarily start a vlog, since I have this super awesome blog, but just to kind of take videos as an alternative to still photos.

One of the blogs I follow is doing a daily post thinger where one day you post your favorite Disney villain, the next day you post your favorite Disney sidekick, your favorite Disney song,  etc etc. I’m thinking about doing that simply to get in the habit of posting more than every three weeks, haha.

I’m also thinking about doing a Project 365, starting January 1st. If you don’t know what that is, basically you just take a photo every day for one whole year. You can post them to your blog or just hold onto them, whatever. You don’t have to post them all on the correct day necessarily (life gets busy sometimes), but you have to at least take the photo each day. Sometimes people take a photo of themselves (or someone else) every day for a year, to see the growth and change. I’ll most likely take the course of taking a photo of really whatever I happen to take a photo of, haha. I’m curious to see if I’ll remember to do it past January.

If there’s anyone out there actually reading this, feel free to post a comment.. I’d actually love to know if I have any readers, haha.

Twenty-nine (thirty-one..) days!!

December 10, 2010

It’s 29 days until I leave for Orlando :]] And 31 days until check-in!!

For the next three or so weeks, I’ll be continuing my full-time work at a toy warehouse. I seriously enjoy this job. It sounds like lamesauce, picking and packing and shipping boxes of toys. However, the people here are really what make it awesome. Plus, I’m working in the post office area of the warehouse this year, so I’m working with pretty much the same group of ladies every day. I like this way better than last year (when I worked in the regular areas of the warehouse) because I never got to know anybody and I just felt like another trained monkey packing boxes. In the post office, we actually have the opportunity to talk with each other and things like that.

And I mean, the work isn’t bad either :] Sometimes it sucks, like when you have to haul a boatload of heavy trampolines/pogo sticks/plasma cars/y-bikes/art tables/wooden block sets/easels/sand and water tables/etc.. But the rest of the time it’s pretty easy stuff.

I haven’t done a lot as far as Disney preparations lately, other than regularly chatting on the Facebook group my roommates and I created. On Black Friday my mom bought me a new sheet set to take to Florida.

The picture makes them look more purpley, but they’re really hot pink.

And that’s about all I have for my room so far.

I am sooo tired. Good night!
